Privacy Notice Of The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) aisbl

EuRIC takes your privacy very seriously. Please read this privacy notice carefully as it contains important information on how and why we collect, store and use your personal data. It also explains your rights in relation to your personal data and how to contact us.

Who processes your data

EuRIC is an international non-profit organisation with a registered office situated at Boulevard Auguste Reyers 80, 1030 Schaerbeek. EuRIC is registered at the Crossroads Bank of Enterprises under the number 0598.755.363. EuRIC (hereafter referred as “We”) collects and processes certain personal data about you within the framework of its activities which are, including but not limited to:

  • to act as the trusted interface between the industry and the European Union;
  • to bridge local industry needs with the EU decision-making bodies;
  • to serve as a platform for information, cooperation and exchange of best practices on all European recycling matters;
  • to provide the needed expertise to authorities, by taking advantage of the long-term experience of its members in recycling activities;
  • to foster an open, constructive, fact-based dialogue with all the stakeholders across the value chain.
  • to promote the economic, environmental and societal benefits of recycling.

When we do so, we are subject to the Privacy Regulation which applies to the processing of personal data in the context of the activities of an establishment of a controller or a processor in the EU. 

  • Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (“GDPR”);
  • the Belgian Data Protection Act of 30 th July 2018 on the protection of privacy in relation to the processing of personal data (as amended) (the “Privacy Act”); and/or
  • All other applicable legislation regarding the protection of privacy and the processing of personal data;

By submitting any Personal Data to us, you consent and agree that we may collect, use and disclose such Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Notice, and as permitted or required by law may disclose the information to a third party, such as suppliers, partners, or as otherwise authorized under applicable law. EuRIC will make sure contractually that the third party concerned is required to use your personal data in accordance with the provisions of this Privacy Policy.

With agreeing to this Privacy Policy, members and/or sponsors that provide personal data of third parties (e.g. their employees, members, board members, staff, subcontractors, and contracting parties) to EuRIC guarantee that (i) these personal data are lawfully obtained and (ii) that the member/sponsor is authorized to transfer these personal data EuRIC. Members and sponsors themselves guarantee that they comply with the Privacy Regulation and will indemnify, hold harmless and compensate EuRIC for all claim resulting from non-compliance with the above.

Types of personal data

EuRIC can collect and process the following types of personal data of members or external stakeholders: 

  • Title
  • Name
  • Surname
  • Position - function
  • Nationality
  • Gender
  • E-mail address
  • Telephone number (landline and/or mobile phone and/or work phone number)
  • Residence address
  • Birthdate
  • Company name
  • Company registered office
  • Invoicing and payment details (credit card details)
  • IP-address
  • All personal data provided in the ‘free field’ when completing the contact form

 EuRIC may also have collected additional information such as individual photos, pictures and videos taken at meetings, statements made during meetings and any other data necessary for participating to meetings, relevant for administrative purposes or required by law.

For directors and other persons entitled to represent the association, it also includes additional personal information such, copy of ID card/passport and invoice attesting the domicile, in view of publication to the Belgian State Gazette (Moniteur Belge) and Crossroads Bank for Enterprises.

For employees and other staff members, the national identification number may also be requested.

Methods of personal data collection

EuRIC can collect and process personal data directly from the data subjects or from their employers in the context of:

  • Membership or sponsorship with EuRiC
  • Professional or commercial collaboration with EuRIC
  • Visiting the  website of EuRIC
  • Incoming and outgoing correspondence with EuRIC
  • Appealing on the services of EuRIC
  • Registrations to conferences/events/workshops/etc organized by EuRIC.
  • Taking pictures and video recording, taken during events or voluntarily received
  • Attending internal meetings/working groups
  • Exchanging of business cards

EuRIC has the following legal grounds for the processing of your personal data:

  • your free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent to EuRIC as well as its suppliers (e.g. subcontractors, partners or contracting parties) to process your personal data. You can give your consent by any means, such as, but not limited to mail, email, an online or offline consent form, a membership form. The possibility of withdrawing the prior explicit consent can be exercised at any time; and/or
  • the contract or membership form you have entered into with EuRIC regarding one of its activities; and/ or
  • a legal obligation; and/ or
  • a legitimate interest of EuRIC which commits to strictly limit its data and information collection to the abovementioned Uses’ type of legitimate interest.

Use of personal data

EuRIC can use your personal data for the following purposes

  • Responding to questions (whether or not received through the contact form)
  • Sending newsletters
  • Sending advertisements for conferences/events/workshops and activities linked to recycling supported by EuRIC 
  • To create anonym statistics and better its website performance
  • Follow-up after a meeting
  • Providing support/assistance (e.g. in case of problems)
  • Conducting customer satisfaction studies, surveys and other market research
  • Registrations and confirmation of registrations to conferences/events/workshops organized by EuRIC
  • Issuing invoices and the collection thereof
  • Legally required sharing information to public authorities (Moniteur Belge, UBO registry, )

Storage of personal data

We only store your personal data are for for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purpose(s) for which they were collected. After that we will either delete it or anonymise it so they cannot be linked back to you.

Privacy rights

The GDPR is designed to give individuals better control over their personal data held by organisations. In light of the processing of personal data, you enjoy the following privacy rights:

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectify, complete or update your personal data
  • Right to delete your personal data 
  • Right to limit the processing of your personal data
  • Right to transferability of your personal data
  • Right to object to/oppose the processing of your personal data
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority should you consider that the processing of your personal data breaches the Privacy regulation ( )

If you no longer wish to receive information about the conferences/events/workshops and activities linked to recycling supported by EuRIC, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" button underneath each of EuRIC impersonal emails.

By agreeing to this privacy policy, legal entities members providing personal data of third parties (e.g. their employees, members, board members, staff, subcontractors, contracting parties) guarantee that they will inform the aforementioned data subjects regarding the abovementioned rights and how to exercise these rights.

Transfer to third parties

EuRIC shall under no circumstance sell your personal data to Third-Parties or share it for commercial gain. EuRIC may however share your data for the fulfilment of its activities when (i) there is a legal obligation to transfer the personal data and in particular to public authorities, (ii) it is necessary to do so to its partners (e.g. subcontractors, partners or contracting parties); for the achievement of the Use (iii) we have  legitimate interest to do so.

Third parties to whom EuRIC may, or is obliged to, transfer personal data on the basis of the above categories, can be located within or outside the European Union. In such case EuRIC shall ensure that the Personal data will be treated fairly and lawfully. This will include ensuring EuRIC has a legal ground for sending the personal data outside the European Union and putting in place necessary safeguard for such arrangement.

EuRIC cannot be held responsible regarding the transfer of personal data and cannot be liable for the further processing of the personal data by third parties.

EuRIC is using Google Analytics cookies to analyze and track user's use of its website, determine the popularity of certan content and better understand online activity. Security of personal data

EuRIC undertakes to take reasonable, physical, technological and organisational precautions in order to avoid (i) unauthorised access to your personal information, and (ii) loss, abuse or alteration of your personal data. Your personal data is used exclusively for our own purposes. If you do not wish to receive EuRIC communications, you may inform us at any time.

Notwithstanding precautions taken, an infallible level of security cannot be guaranteed. Since no method of transmission or forwarding over the internet, or any method of electronic storage is 100% secure, EuRIC is, in this context, not in a position to guarantee absolute security. Your consent to this Privacy Policy acknowledges and accepts processing of data is never without risk and damages you may suffer from third parties in case they use your Personal Data unlawfully, is not the liability of EuRIC.
